MIZKAST exists to provide disempowered and vulnerable young people with a safe space to express themselves artistically, using the Arts as a tool for self empowerment, self transformation, a voice of influence and social change.
Young people look at a variety of themes, personal stories and social injustices to inspire their stories. It is from these stories that characters, scripts and projects are created. MIZKAST are young people who have been given a platform to express themselves and to use their voices to raise awareness of Queer stories, social prejudices and to comment on the experiences of living life as a young person in today's society. Our projects are unique, challenging and creative and always place young people at the heart of every aspect of decision making within the projects and at management level. Our work focuses on identity, societal issues, LGBTQIA+ themes and the issues that affect young people and we explore the role that Art can play in addressing these issues in a positive and empowering way. We provide a platform for those who are often voiceless and in isolation, producing high quality experimental and DIY Art, which challenges prejudice and perception to our audiences. |
